Letha C. Murney Born: October 2, 1924 in Thomson, IL Died: August 1, 2024 in Dixon, IL Letha C. Murney, 99, passed away Thursday, August 1, 2024 at the home of her daughter, Constance Murney in Dixon, IL. Our loving mother was born in Thomson, Il to Harry and Lottie(Quick) Gaar. Upon the death of her mother her father would later marry a lovely lady, Edith Groharing in 1930. As a young woman Letha was known for her lovely voice and briefly trained in opera. She attended York High School in Thomson and later worked as a nurses aide at the Savanna Hospital during World War II. Our mother was a very loving lady with an unlimited amount of words to describe her. The best definition would be from Corinthians 13.4 - 13. "The Greatest Gift". Letha married Victor E. Murney of Mt. Carroll in 1945 in Thomson at York Community Church, of which Letha's father was one of the founding members. Victor passed away in August 2007.
